VISA INFORMATION FOR COUNTRIES NEEDING SPECIAL AUTHORIZATION FROM INDONESIAN IMMIGRATION AUTHORITY

Countries Requiring Special Authorization

Citizens of the following countries must receive special authorization from the Indonesian Immigration Authority in order to apply for a visa.

3) Cameroon
4) Congo
5) Ethiopia
6) Guinea
7) Ghana
8) Iraq
9) Israel
10) Liberia
11) Niger
12) Nigeria
13) North Korea
14) Pakistan
15) Rwanda
16) Somalia
17) Sri Lanka
18) Tanzania
19) Uganda
20) Zambia

The Process
Please begin the following steps as soon as possible. The approval process at the Immigration Authority in Jakarta, Indonesia can take up to 1-2 months. The national organizing committee in Indonesia must coordinate with you to submit a “calling visa” on your behalf to the Indonesian Immigration Authority. Therefore, we ask you to communicate and cooperate with Mr. Toesmoyo in the National Committee.

1. Check the expiration date on your passport. Your passport must be valid at least 12 months after the date you plan to enter Indonesia. For most participants, it will be October 2 or 3. If your passport expires before October 2012, please renew it as soon as possible.

2. Send the following documents by post or by email (scanned copies as attachment) to Mr. Toesmoyo (see the end of this document for contact information):

a. Photocopy of your passport (all pages of your passport)
b. 2 or 3 Passport-size photographs of yourself (4cm x 6 cm)
c. Brief curriculum vitae (CV)

If you are sending these documents by post, please inform Ms. Joy Lee and Mr. Toesmoyo that you have sent these documents by post.

3. Submit your visa application to the nearest Indonesian Embassy or Consulate. Please read the general Visa and Travel Information document for information on visa applications.

4. Send Mr. Toesmoyo the following information by email as soon as you submit your application:

a. Where you submitted your visa application (which Embassy/Consulate)
b. The date you submitted your application
c. If possible, send the receipt for your visa application to Mr. Toesmoyo by email.

5. The Indonesian Embassy or Consulate that receives your visa application will send your information to the Immigration Authority in Jakarta, Indonesia.

6. The National Committee in Indonesia will submit a “Calling Visa” on your behalf at the Immigration Authority in Jakarta. They will use the documents that you send to Mr. Toesmoyo (passport photocopy, color photographs, and CV).

7. The Immigration Authority will process the Calling Visa and your visa application information. If you are approved, they will send the approval notice to your Indonesian sponsor (the National Committee) and to the Embassy or Consulate where you submitted your visa application. The Immigration Authority may take 1-2 months to process your authorization.

8. The Embassy or Consulate will notify you of the results of your visa application.
